1/6-scale "The Wolverine" from Hot Toys featuring the likeness of Hugh Jackman

And while I've yet to have the opportunity to view the feature film (perhaps on DVD, on sale after rentals… maybe…), the 1/6th-scaled version of THE WOLVERINE from Hot Toys look exceedingly impressive, methinks. Featuring the likeness of actor Hugh Jackman as "Wolverine" (thankfully in a new headsculpt versus the earlier 2 versions), and including two styles of claws and costumes, and an engraved metal Japanese sword - for which Sideshow Toys is pricing it at US$224.99, with an expected ship-date from May 2014. Seems a tad "late" for even the DVD release of the film, innit? Heh.

Launched September 15th, "The Wiseman and the Crane" by KiD iNK iNDUSTRiES for Tenacious Toys' Super Series Sundays - purchasable here for US$25 per blind-bagged pull. 36 unique colors of 3.5-inch tall resin to collect. Somehow I wish there was a twist to the aesthetics, rather than a visual replication of chinese sculpts, IMHO.


The debut release of Scribe's "Scrimshaw Mattenoot" happens Friday Sept 20 at noon PST purchasable via www.cardboardspaceshiptoys.com. Priced at US$55 each, and in an edition of 20 x handmade resin pieces, they come signed and numbered by the artist. Somehow am not too jazzed by this figurine, who looks like a "beached whale" placed on the floor like that. If there was a semblance of a raised pedestal/stand, or an "illusion" that the beast is floating and swimming, that would indeed be swell, IMHO.


New resin toy from Paul Shih - with more of the work-in-progress shots of the Fortune Cookie viewable here. Expect item to be released end of September. The fumanchu-moustache bothers me a tad (although it somehow reminds me of a taoist-ish chinese vampire-hunter lol), but perhaps a caricature representation best suits this creation. Perhaps some color will shed some light on this piece :)

Sideshow Collectibles has Batman (@ US$204.99) and Robin (@ US$189.99) available for pre-order, with an expected ship date circa April 2014. I am torn between wonderous-gasps, and abject raised eyebrows for unfitting costumes (are they geriatric folks with loose underwear?) LOL


Paul Kaiju's 4" tall Metal Mockbats and 4" tall Anniversary Luftkaiser gets released on Friday September 20th at 12PM PST via http://shop.toyartgallery.com - priced at US$135 and US$45 respectively. I reckon both looks lovely and the Mockbats are certainly pretty exciting for me!

Price is US$30 for a regular 3" and US$17 for 1.75" minis. 1 out of 5 will be a special “Taste Test” chase. They will only be available for the weekend in an open run with a 35hr window to order. 3DRetro releases the SSUR Rebel Ape bust. Limited to 50 pieces with a suggested retail of US$150 per 12" tall vinyl bust. Green busts will be available for purchase September 19 at Noon PST. Black at ssur.com and army green 3Dretro.com. The other 5 color ways will release throughout the year.

I know I should be excited at the prospect, but somehow the "Planet of the Apes" notion of simian heads on humanoid bodies, might well have run it's course, in pop culture … although this does look pretty sweet, I haveta say LOL

So wait, released September 13th at www.bambalandstore.com is 3A Toys' Dead Easy Corp - Zomb MD Crack Zomb Soldiers (US$260 for set of 3 x 1/6-figures), and then there's the rag-covered AK Potato Commander (US$120 per single figure / dropped in random batches, no less) … and then there's the GID set of 3 x Dead Easy Corp? Thank goodness I'm not collecting this set, otherwise I'd flip LOL

3A Toys introduces THE BITCH, and it is the cutest thing! Yes, I am gushing. No, I do not have any further info, except that this will be a part of the Adventure Kartel-line and I am wholly unsure if this will be a part of a 1/6th-scaled "Bleak Mission" figure tho...

Seen @ #STGCC 2013: Super Alloy New 52 Justice League in 1/6 from Play Imaginative

Seen on display at Play Imaginative's booth at Singapore Toy Games and Comic Convention were prototypes of upcoming Super Alloy 1/6 scale articulated action figures from DC Comics' The New 52 Justice League, with folks having the chance to check out the 5 characters, featuring Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, The Flash and Cyborg (no "Wonder Woman" tho) - all based on jim lee's redesign for the comicbooks.

Looking much more impressive than online images I have posted about, I find myself really liking this group - now seen closer - and appreciate the diversity provided, versus the purely Iron Man depicted series seen so far, IMHO.

Seen @ #STGCC 2013: Old Master Q & Tiger Dragon Gate from Play Imaginative x IND

Seen on display at Singapore Toy Games and Comic Convention (via the Play Imaginative booth) were two 1/6th-scale products due in collaboration with IND and Danny Chan (whom I had the pleasure to meet as I was hobbling my way of of the event hall on Day 1 haha) - the first of which is OLD MASTER Q - in two editions (and not interchangeable clothes as I had first expected) - both celebrating the 50th anniversary of "老夫子"!


I am frankly extremely excited about this figure, as it brings me back to the days of youth, when I devoured the comic digests, and as well I was a huge fan of their "Legend of the Water Margin" ("水虎傳") adaptation, so the kung-fu tunic garb is a MUST for me hahahaha

Kudos for P.I. for helping bring back a slice of nostalgia for me, personally. No product or availability info as yet tho :p


Another item of interest, was the debut display of the blonde-haired "Shi Hei Long" from infamous manhua "Tiger Dragon Gate" (aka 龍虎門)! Seen with an interchangeable head, depicting it's comicbook caricature design, Danny also mentioned that his two other compatriots will be included!
