Monday, October 14, 2013

“Misrememberance” – a solo show featuring new works by Scott Tolleson, opened Saturday, October 12th at Dragatomi. The items have since been listed online for purchases, which include a trio of original sculpts from Scott: previously seen TRAYJUS and STUFFED IDOL, and MYSTIC CONJUROR = truly inspiring work, I insist!

PRESS: "Be wary of your childhood memories. Things that were once treasured may have a darker, sinister side. This show will feature new resin sculptures, canvas prints, custom figures and an exclusive Hot Pink Dead Beet."

Stuffed Idol by Scott Tolleson: Images & Artist's Say

Thursday, October 3, 2013

You might have seen these images popping up on Scott Tolleson's Facebook or Instagram @mrscotttolleson, and here today #onTOYSREVIL, we have images to share, along with words from Scott himself, describing the theme and genesis of STUFFED IDOL - a piece he sculpted himself! In an edition of 10, they will be made available at Dragatomi "soon" (will update info as soon as I have them).

"Stuffed Idol is my attempt at a social commentary “art” piece. Usually most of my work is character driven but with this I wanted to vent my opinions on the current state of “Pop Art” and how I’m tired of seeing SOME artist use it as a crutch for success." -says Scott.
"I’m not saying I don’t like some Pop Art. I’m a huge fan of Ron English for example. I think he executes is messages masterfully in his paintings and toys. I decided to pick the most overused character to get my point across. Pop Art is not a new direction for me and my work. I just felt like I needed to get something off my chest with this piece. Also, this is my third attempt at sculpting and this character is very familiar to me :P" -added Scott Tolleson.

Scott Tolleson's Deadbeet in SG

Wednesday, August 14, 2013

A care package courtesy of Mr Scott Tolleson has me quivering in anticipation, when I picked it up at the post office late last week, with the exciting contents including a Bunny Qee (to add to my humble Tolleson-collection), a print collabo with Leecifer (love it when my prints come signed muahahaha), other assorted yummy, AND a splendid WHITE DEADBEET - and my very first large sized Deadbeets too!

Sculpted by George Gaspar, I have since found out from Scott himself that this particular edition is currently not purchasable … at least not at his time …

Keep crossing your fingers, Deadbeet-lovers and collectors, and stay tuned to www.stolleart.com and @mrscotttolleson on both Twitter and Instagram!
